We Believe

We Believe

themeWe, the members of this church, declare it to be one of God’s appointed agencies for the salvation of men.  Our mission is to be “visionaries empowered by the Holy Spirit to transform lives through Jesus Christ.”  We will strive to maintain the ordinances of the gospel.  We believe as it is written, Christ gave Himself for the church “that He might present to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” (Eph 5:27).

Therefore, we do declare and establish this constitution to preserve and secure the principles of our faith, and to that end, to be governed in an orderly manner consistent with the Baptist church Covenant.  (Any reference to the male gender, such as man, he, etc. refers to “all of the people of God” and should not be misconstrued for any other purpose.)

1.        THE SCRIPTURES

We believe that the Bible was written by men divinely inspired; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us and is the supreme standard for human conduct, creed, and opinion.

2.         GOD

We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God, maker and supreme ruler of all things, inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence, and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons:  The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct, but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.

 3.          CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary:  that He died for our sins and was raised for our justification; that He is both spirit and man, and is the only sufficient mediator between God and man through whom every soul may have direct access to God.

4.          THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit, and that He is constantly revealing Christ and divine truth to men.

5.          SIN AND SALVATION

We believe that all men have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and therefore, have an absolute need of salvation through the grace of God.  We believe that the way to salvation is found in the teachings of Jesus Christ and that every man ought to show His love and faith in Christ by a public profession followed by baptism.

6.          THE CHURCH

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the living head of the Church, which is composed of all men everywhere who acknowledge Him as Lord and Savior.

7.          BAPTISM

We believe baptism to be an ordinance of the Lord Jesus Christ wherein the believer is immersed in water in the name of The Father and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit as a sign of his fellowship with the death and resurrection of Christ, of remission of sins, and of his giving himself up to God to live and walk in the newness of life.

8.          THE LORD’S SUPPER

We believe The Lord’s Supper to be an ordinance of the Lord Jesus Christ to be observed by his churches until the end of the world.  It is designed to commemorate His death, to confirm the faith and other graces of Christians, and to be a bond, pledge and renewal of their communion with Him, and with the fellowship of His church.  Observation of communion shall be held in accordance with the Bylaws herein.

9.           THE LORD’S DAY

We believe that the first day of the week is The Lord’s Day and that it should be kept sacred to religious purposes.
